Retrofit solution

Keep your solar. Make it smarter.

Already have a PV system from another brand? Add EnergyPilot at the distribution board and see your whole home in one app — then add storage or more solar when it suits you.

How it works

Start with what you already have.

No rip-and-replace: the system you have keeps working, and EnergyPilot adds monitoring and control around it.

  1. 01
    Measure

A three-phase EnergyPilot (VDG-EM-3) goes into the distribution board. One CT reads the grid connection; the spare CTs read the output of your existing inverter.

  2. 02
    See

Grid import and export, solar production and home consumption appear together in the VIP Cloud app.

  3. 03
    Add

When you are ready, add PowerCube storage, more solar with SolarCore microinverters, or ChargeFlow — EnergyPilot coordinates the VaySunic devices.

Each step works on its own, and each one builds on the last.

EnergyPilot in a distribution board
Step 1

See everything

EnergyPilot VDG-EM-3 · VIP Cloud

Measure the grid point and your existing inverter, and follow production, consumption, import and export in one app.

  • Your existing inverter stays as it is
  • Third-party inverters are monitored only, not controlled
  • Fits in the distribution board, CTs included
PowerCube with EnergyPilot
Step 2

Add storage

PowerCube VA + VB5000D packs

PowerCube connects on the AC side, next to the existing system. EnergyPilot sees the surplus at the grid point and charges the battery instead of exporting.

  • 2.5–27.5 kWh, in 5 kWh steps
  • No need to replace the existing inverter
  • Backup output (EPS) on the PowerCube

Step 2 or 3

Add solar

SolarCore microinverters · SolarKit

Add modules on a free roof area, the balcony or the garden with SolarCore microinverters. Production shows in the same app, next to the existing system.

  • 1, 2 and 4-MPPT models
  • Plug-in balcony kits where local rules allow
  • Grows module by module

Before you start

  • Third-party inverters are monitored, not controlled. Export limits and battery control apply to VaySunic devices.
  • Compatibility is assessed per project. Send us the inverter brand and model, the grid connection (single- or three-phase) and a photo of the distribution board.
  • EnergyPilot, PowerCube and fixed solar installations are installed by a qualified electrician.
  • Plug-in solar only where local regulations allow.
FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need to replace my existing inverter?

No. The existing inverter keeps running. EnergyPilot measures its output with a clip-on CT; PowerCube and SolarCore are added alongside.

Can EnergyPilot control my existing inverter?

No. Third-party inverters are monitored only. EnergyPilot controls the VaySunic devices — PowerCube, SolarHub, SolarCore and ChargeFlow.

What if my home is single-phase?

The single-phase VDG-EM-1 covers the grid point. To also measure an existing inverter you need the spare CTs of the three-phase VDG-EM-3, which can also work as three single-phase measuring points.

Which inverter brands work?

We check each project individually and do not publish a compatibility list. Tell us what you have and we will confirm before you order.
